James Hay is a strategic infrastructure and major project advisor.

Previously he worked in the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) as deputy secretary, leading a critical project working on regulation of access between energy transmission networks.

Before joining the DCCEEW was Chief Executive of Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo), the statutory authority responsible for leading the planning and development and overseeing the delivery of Renewable Energy Zones and priority transmission projects as part of the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap.

James has specialised in the public and private sector network and infrastructure businesses. This includes their operations and infrastructure development and funding, policy settings, regulation, trading and pricing, risk management and governance.

In previous roles James has held a variety of infrastructure roles in Australia and New Zealand, including at the NSW Office of Energy and Climate Change, Snowy Hydro Limited, NSW Roads and Maritime Services, Central Plains Water, DPMC (New ZEALAND) and Meridian Energy.
