Matt Freeman

Matt Freeman is the founder and Managing Director of Freeman (formerly Freeman Media), which he established in Wellington in 2002.

Under his leadership, Freeman has grown into a respected, subscription-based news and events publisher serving New Zealand’s business sectors – launching flagship publications like Energy News in 2008 and Inside Resources in 2013, and expanding in 2020 with the acquisition of The Capital Letter.

Matt holds a B.Com in Commerce and Economics from the University of Adelaide and previously worked in senior roles at Telecom New Zealand, Flight Centre and Budget Travel.
