David Dewar is a business strategy and economic policy advisor and commentator, who has served for more than two decades as a senior New Zealand trade diplomat in Fiji, Australia and across the Pacific Region.

Formerly New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner for the Pacific, David has worked across government, business, and international organisations at the highest levels to drive strategic trade and investment initiatives and economic growth.

Currently based in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, after five years in Fiji, David is passionate about Pacific infrastructure and renewable energy, working at the intersect of government and business to shape policy and corporate strategy to support the Region’s energy transition and economic growth.

In addition to his advisory role, David co-hosts the “Two Palagi in a Pisinisi Pod” podcast, a weekly show profiling businesses and economic insights from across the Pacific region.
