Subrata Barman

Subrata Barman is a senior infrastructure and energy professional with more than two decades of experience developing investable projects and creating markets across Asia and the Pacific. He previously led IFC’s Pacific and Mekong Energy Advisory Program, where his work included energy-access expansion in Papua New Guinea, private participation in rooftop solar and IPPs, and the development of solar, mini-grid and distributed-generation opportunities. More recently, Subrata has held regional leadership responsibilities for pre-investment and project development across Asia Pacific, helping take infrastructure opportunities from early-stage concept and feasibility through bankability assessment and preparation for investment. He has worked extensively with governments, state utilities, private investors, the World Bank and development partners to translate policy ambition into practical, financeable projects.

Prior to joining IFC, Subrata worked with the management consulting practice of KPMG and PwC, where he was responsible for business development and implementation of consulting projects in the infrastructure sector. Subrata is an engineer from IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and a MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, India.
